Good day foodie friends,
About six months ago I heard details of a new restaurant PERCH that was going to open on top of the new Frost Bank Tower in downtown Fort Worth. I thought what a wonderful idea. A brand new high-rise building with a brand new restaurant where the sky would be the limit.
My family has been in the restaurant business for over 100 years. All my life has been in the restaurant industry, and I follow a personal policy… don’t visit a new place until they’ve been operating for a month or two. I’ll go to openings, review parties, and media presentations, but I don’t review for at least a month or 60 days. Too many procedures can change when a new place opens. The staff, menu items, kitchen operations, and even the front of the house is trying to find their groove. You have to be fair and give them time so everyone and everything flows operationally perfect for a review visit.
We visited the new high-rise cafe Perch for the first time this evening. I believe they’ve been open about eight weeks now, so you know I was ready.
When you research the word PERCH the definition from dictionary. com, the result is; a pole or rod, usually horizontal, serving as a roost for birds. any place or object, as a sill, fence, branch, or twig, for a bird, animal, or person to alight or rest upon. a high or elevated position, resting place, or the like.
This definition was perfect for the new Perch Restaurant.
I thought about the name perch for three months and wondered if the name would do the restaurant justice or vice-versa? I’m here to tell you the name perch is absolutely precise. You couldn’t find a better name, a better view, or better outside surroundings. The atmosphere and outdoor surroundings are truly incredible.
If you follow my blogs, or my social media, then you know I love sidewalk-style dining, similar to the cafes in Europe. I love the fresh air intermingled with dining, drinking, and socializing. In my professional opinion, it makes cuisine taste better. It creates wholesome vibes while you’re enjoying your meal, drinks, and socializing. When the food is fresh, creative, flavorful, and combined with a great atmosphere it truly makes for a fantastic experience.
Perch uses fresh seasonal ingredients from local Artisan Farmers. The dishes we dined on had wonderfully delicious flavor profiles. The “Meat Balls,” OMG! Where prepared with CHR aged beef, house marinara, and topped with succulent shaved cheese. The meatballs were tender and juicy with each bite and we loved the shaved mozzarella cheese it really added to the flavor profile. The “Chimichurri Flatbread” is packed with fresh vegetables and ingredients. They where prepared with CHR aged steak, chimichurri sauce, Paula’s smoked mozzarella, and caramelized onion. The flatbread was crispy thin with a great chimichurri sauce. The meat was so tender and flavorful, I could rub it all over my meat loving chubby body.
I walked around and took a peek at some other dishes and it all looked fresh and colorful. Everyone dinning was happy and enjoying their meals and cocktails.
Something else you can’t beat. Perch has a wonderful bar and prepares creative cocktails for socializing and mingling with coworkers, friends, and family.
If you’re looking for a new place that will take you to the flavor rodeo in Fort Worth while offering you incredible views and wonderful atmosphere then Perch is your huckleberry.
Until next time… Enjoy life live, laugh, love, eat, and drink my friends. You never know when it will end.
