It’s time to check out the Po’Boy scene in Dallas! There’s a common belief that Po’Boys are the king of sandwiches, but let me clarify: Po’Boys are not just sandwiches; they’re a culinary masterpiece.
After over 30 years of exploring New Orleans and savoring its incredible variety of Po’Boys, I can confidently say that they stand in a league of their own. Po’Boys offer an experience like no other!
I’ve sought them out, enjoyed them, and even written about them! So when I heard there was a new Po’Boy shop opening in Dallas around Preston Center, I said to myself: “Self, we will check out this Po’Boy shop when it opens. We will determine if they’re slang’n real Po’Boys or if it’s just some wall-eyed, counterfeit, hocus-pocus, ragtag sandwiches that they’re calling Po’Boys!”
The moment we stepped through the door, I took in the bustling dining room, the crowded standing area near the entrance, and the lively patio overflowing with patrons. It became clear to me that this place was likely serving up genuinely authentic NOLA-style po’boys, and I couldn’t wait to indulge.
Soon as we ordered and they brought us our two bags of eats I was ready to put a hurting on them Po’Boys, get some messy hands, and throw a chow down for a trip to Po’Boy-Ville!
We ordered a Debris, a Dirty Cajun, and a Hot Sexy Pastrami. The aromas wafting in the air were too much for me to handle as Jana tried to slowly take the food out of the bags. I just grabbed the bags and said, “Who Dat? Rip them BAGS OPEN, girl!”
Chow down we did! The Po’Boys were served: HF&D hot, fresh, and delicious! “A little bit of heaven in a loaf.” It was a 20-napkin kind of day as I inhaled my Po’Boys. All I could think about was how I felt like I was in New Orleans, sitting on a stool in a little corner store, enjoying a Po’Boy. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, a trip straight to Authentic Po’Boy-ville and truly unforgettable.
“It’s my determination, along with my skills in hunting down deliciousness, that The Po’Boy Shop in Dallas offers the BEST Po’Boys in the city and some of the BEST in TEXAS, period! You better get in your vehicle and hit the gas to head to The Po’Boy Shop for a taste of the good life, all wrapped up in a roll. When you arrive, throw that door open and SCREAM: ‘WHO DAT? GIVE ME ONE OF THOSE Po’Boys TREY’S YELLING ABOUT!”
