Buckle Up! It’s time for a story of delicious portions,
Have you ever heard of Mary’s Brazos Cafe in Tin Top, Texas, west of Fort Worth? It’s a back-road Texas cafe so famous that it could have its own TV show. Well, I hadn’t heard of it until my buddy Greg told me about it, and boy, am I glad he did!
It all started way back in 1991 when Mary began serving delicious, fresh-prepared meals. Today, it’s a historic, down-home Texas diner near Weatherford, famous for its comfort food, local history, and especially for being featured in the hit show *Yellowstone*. Creator Taylor Sheridan chose it for a “time-warped” scene in *Yellowstone*, portraying it as Paducah, TX, which gave this local landmark national attention.
Though sometimes known for its quirky tales, like a truck crash or a snake story, Mary’s has recently faced rumors of closure. However, it didn’t close; it just keeps on serving that hot, fresh, and delicious food like any small-town or back-road diner would do.

If you know us, then you understand how much we love discovering back-road, home-style cafes, especially those in country settings with friendly people, great staff, and fresh food. We found all that and more at Mary’s in Tin Top, Texas.
My good friend Greg Williamson, owner of Williamson Performance Horses, asked me a simple question: “Have you ever eaten at Mary’s in Tin Top?” I replied, “Who? Where?” He then said, “Get in my truck!” With that, we headed to Mary’s, and the rest is history—I fell in love after my first bite.
“WOW!” was exactly what I exclaimed after tasting Mary’s fork-tender chicken fried steak for breakfast. It was tender, succulent, fresh, and so delicious that I literally couldn’t breathe between bites, except to shovel some of Mary’s warm, fluffy biscuits smothered in gravy into my mouth. With every bite, all I could think about was how fantastic Mary’s was. I also tried a breakfast taco/burrito, a burger, and my hash browns were cooked GBD—Golden, Brown, and Delicious. Don’t forget about those big Texas-sized omelets!

Trey’s Take:
