Barbecue Deliciousness 2020
Hello, and THANK YOU so much for reading our Best Barbecue article for 2020. This year we’re very proud to release our Best Barbecue for 2020 on the Fox Network GOOD DAY Fox 4 show. Last year our 2019 BEST Barbecue in North Texas on ABC was extremely successful! In just over fifteen months we reached 1.2 million barbecue and food lovers. I hope you will visit some, if not all, of this year’s winners and reshare our article with your friends and family to help support local barbecue, pitmasters and deliciousness.
Below at the end of the blog we created a full list of this years winners. You may screen shot from your phone or print it off and plan your BBQ adventures of 2021. By saving our list you will have instance reference for your barbecue cravings.
WOW! What a year 2020 was for the restaurant, barbecue, and culinary world. In my five decades in the restaurant business, I’ve seen disasters of all types and nothing comes close to the devastating effect COVID-19 has had on our economy. Restaurants, pitmasters, chefs, and restauranteurs had to make big changes if they wanted to survive the pandemic. Nationwide we lost over 251,000 restaurants forever and 2.5 million restaurant jobs at the latest estimate. The good thing is that NOW we are on the mend and the Texas economy is in full giddy-up mode!
The Texas Barbecue pitmasters and chefs are coming out full throttle, blowing smoke and slinging Texas meaty deliciousness. Most of the barbecue folks were able to get creative during the pandemic and pivot daily. They did whatever it took to save the business and sling BBQ. A portion of them have come out wiser and stronger learning hard lessons from the pandemic. They are offering some new creative and delicious dishes for all of us to chow down on this year. Get ready, because 2021 is going to be the BEST year for Texas Q that I’ve seen in over a decade.
When anyone says the word “barbecue,” it sends most folks in what I like to call the “full tilt barbecue boogie.” Their minds simply start overloading on the thought of tender, succulent, and flavor-packed proteins that have been cooked to perfection over a fire, in a pit, or a smoker. Well, at least mine does! Almost everyone loves a good barbecue – it’s one of the most popular foods in the world. As a passionate restauranteur, food expert, chowhound, and barbecue lover, my mind stays in F.T.B.B. (full tilt barbecue boogie) all day. I love BBQ and I am passionate about the pitmasters and chefs that create these wonderful dishes for all of us to enjoy. The history of barbecue is pretty simple. The way that Americans know barbecue now is, meat cooked over a pit, or in a smoker, covered in spices and basting sauce. The term “barbecue” originated in the Caribbean Islands. The word comes from the language of a Caribbean Indian tribe called the Taino. Their word for grilling on a raised wooden grate is barbacoa. These tribes would cook the delicious meats, then they would gather together as a group to chow down.
People always ask me during my travels around Texas and the USA, “What is Texas Craft Barbecue?” It’s a question and a statement that people argue over daily around the world and in Texas. I’ve learned over the last decade, and especially the last three years interviewing pitmasters and chefs on my TV show and podcast. A pit master’s barbecue is extremely personal and each one of them is passionate about their barbecue, cooking methods, and spices. They work hard crafting their techniques so they can achieve those delicious Texas flavor profiles with rubs and spices. We can argue all day about which is better and some of them love to talk and debate that with anyone.
Let me tell ya, Texas barbecue has a totally different taste, texture, feel, and flavor profile than the rest of what the world considers to be barbecue. Wikipedia defines Texas Barbecue as, “a traditional style of preparing meat unique to the cuisine of Texas. It is one of the many different varieties of barbecue found around the world. Texas barbecue traditions can be divided into four general styles: East Texas, Central Texas, South Texas, and West Texas.” While I do believe this, in my opinion, most Texas Craft Barbecue can be defined as the perfect combination of quality proteins with rubs and spices that produce succulent, flavor-loaded meat. It’s prepared with the same passion and love that a world-class artist would use to create a magnificent piece of their own art work. It is simply Texas meaty deliciousness and you will know it every time you smell and taste it. Texas barbecue lovers have the basic ideology: That It’s simply TEXAS. Brisket with flavor-loaded bark, one-pound beef ribs, creatively stuffed sausages, and some delicious side dishes are big barbecue items in Texas that are generally not found in other states (with some exceptions to this rule of course). Many folks have come to Texas to learn about our cooking methods, flavor profiles, textures, and what defines Texas barbecue. They will then develop their own methods and open Texas Barbecue restaurants in other states. Texas barbecue has become so popular that folks are even opening Texas barbecue restaurants overseas in Japan, China, and other countries. It’s truly becoming one of the most sought-after foods in the world thanks to social media, food bloggers, creatively talented pitmasters, and all the food channels on television nowadays.
The old saying says that everything is bigger and better in Texas, and that still holds true today, especially in the Texas BBQ business. In the last 5 years, the Texas market has seen an explosion in the use of craft meats, from the farm/ranch to smoker category. We have a variety of small ranches and farms offering various types of perfect meats that can be dropped off right at your back door. Some of the most popular meats are Angus, Brangus, Herford, Wagyu, and Akaushi. In my opinion, being a fourth-generation rancher, superior meat quality plays a big role in achieving that perfect flavor. If you’re curious about the meat sectional, just ask the pitmasters what they use and they will proudly tell you, or if you look it may be displayed at the restaurant. I received an invite last year to visit one of Texas BEST craft beef suppliers 44 Farms.
If you love fresh, hand-prepared sides and desserts, then you’re going to love this year’s list because almost every barbecue joint has really stepped up their game in that field. Handmade sides, biscuits, rolls, and desserts have surged in popularity – especially during the pandemic with folks locked at home. I found some unbelievable deliciousness in these categories and I’m happy to tell the world where to locate it.
When I started reporting on the BEST barbecue, I couldn’t believe the response we received at Trey’s Chow Down. To locate the best barbecue, you can’t internet it – you have to get out and find it. You have to taste it, feel the vibes from the customers, smell the aromas, and feel that burning passion from the pitmasters and chefs that are creating and slinging the barbecue. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I had extra time this year. I spent 15 months making over 200 visits to various Texas BBQ joints, locating the BEST TEXAS BARBECUE and sides to prepare for this list. It’s not an easy task, but all the work is worth the result of locating perfection. ” I don’t get paid for this I do it out of my passion for Texas Best pitmasters and Barbecue ! “
I’ve made some changes to this year’s list because I wanted to highlight the hard work, passion, and deliciousness in Texas for everyone to enjoy. This year’s list has the 25 BBQ SPOTS IN NORTH TEXAS as well as the Best all-around family and social BBQ joints. We’ve also added a BBQ on the road section so when our followers are traveling, they can stop and chow down on some delicious Texas BBQ too. We visited Waco, Austin, Houston, East Texas and Southern Oklahoma to locate the Best barbecue while road trip’in.
The Best all-around BBQ joints are classified as restaurants that a larger in size serving incredibly delicious BBQ but also sides, baked goods, sweets, craft cocktails, and some even offering live music. Any of the BBQ joints on my list are incredible and some of the winners placed there by just the narrowest of margins. Please make plans to visit and support these folks whenever you’re able; they would love your support in purchasing gift cards, sauces, merchandise, spices, or rubs when you visit and chow down.
I’m asking all of you to PLEASE reshare this article and SUPPORT your local favorite spot. It doesn’t matter how big or small, they all need your suppo
Best Barbecue In North Texas 2020
#1 Terry Black’s Barbecue
3025 Main Street, Deep Ellum, Dallas TX
New to the Dallas Barbecue scene, but not to Texas Q. The Family roots run deep in the heart of Texas where it all began in 1938 with the Black Family. The Black brothers have been succesfully smoking and slinging Q in Austin since 2014. They decided to open a NEW Black’s in Deep Ellum and in November of 2019, a new legendary BBQ joint was born in Dallas. They constructed a brand new restaurant that is Texas-size, beautiful, and has a vibrant atmosphere. It has an awesome outdoor patio that is two stories, and they have parking, which is a big plus in Dallas.
When you enter the restaurant you’re greeted by five Texas-size offset smokers that are black, beautiful, and always have smoke blowing through the stacks. That delicious Texas Barbecue aroma rolls through the restaurant and Deep Ellum like an old locomotive rolling into the train station. You can actually smell it as you drive or walk down the streets of Deep Ellum nearing the restaurant.
As I approach the restaurant my mouth starts watering and I engage in F.T.B.B. I learned many moons ago that there is something to be said about rolling smokers that permeate smells of deliciousness and perfection. In my opinion, it sets the stage that you’re fixin’ to chow down on some meaty deliciousness. They offer a variety of award-winning smoked meats, sandwiches, sides, desserts, and of course their famous sausage. The brisket is bark-o-licious and the sausage is loaded with flavor, but I’m in LOVE with their BIG PHAT BEEF RIBS because they are #StupidDelicious. Oh, those 1.5-pound slow-smoked beef ribs of perfection – you just can’t go wrong at Terry Black’s.
If you haven’t been, you need to make that trip for some award-winning meaty deliciousness TODAY! They also have a full cocktail bar which makes the trip to Terry’s even better. #TerryBlacksBeefRibPerfection
#2 Panther City BBQ
201 E Hattie St, Fort Worth, TX
The first time I ate at Panther City I wasn’t sure what to expect. I didn’t know much about them – all I knew is they had a small trailer and took over an older barbecue location. Whatever apprehensions I had were put to rest after my first few bites of their Texas succulent barbecue. Co-owners Chris Magallanes and Ernest Morales are energetic and creative pitmasters that are slinging meaty deliciousness, some unbelievable flavor-loaded sides, big phat Texas beefy sandwiches, tacos, and desserts. These two pitmasters have no limits or boundaries to their creativity. They are offering some savory and sweet deliciousness that I just can’t get enough of. I consistently have naughty food dreams about the “Hell’s Half Acre” platter, served with 1/2 lb each of brisket, pulled pork, sausage, pork ribs, smoked turkey, and pork belly burnt ends, which also Includes 2 sides. Those Pork Belly Burnt Ends are just #ridiculoslyDelicious! The “South Side Slammer” is a Texas-size meat sandwich and is also a modern marvel of meaty perfection. If you’re looking to add some Texas Deliciousness in your life, head over and chow down at Panther City BBQ. Tell them boys I said HELLO! #SouthSideBBQBoys
#3 Oak’D BBQ
5500 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX
New to the Dallas Barbecue scene, opening in 2020 on Greenville Ave. Oak’D is one of those new restaurant startups that took everyone by surprise, including me. Pitmaster and Chef Michael Lane along with Oak’D founder Clint Norton have become an unstoppable force in the Dallas and Texas Barbecue scene in a short amount of time. Clint has deep roots in Texas barbecue dating back to the early 1970s, and Chef Michael Lane has been slinging and creating deliciousness for decades in Dallas. Together they’ve formed a NEW Texas barbecue venture that offers seriously delicious craft Barbecue, sides, salads, cocktails, and baked goods. They also offer some creative and delicious desserts by an in-house, award-winning pastry chef. The first time I made a visit I was impressed with the Texas Rosewood Wagyu brisket and the Duroc pork Spare Ribs, but I was in LOVE with all the desserts and those big phat fresh Texas biscuits. There just aren’t many Texas Barbecue joints with all those offerings – craft cocktails and live music too. In my opinion, they have some of the BEST desserts in Dallas and some of the BEST barbecue as well, with a vibrant atmosphere and fantastic customer service. If you haven’t been to Oak’d you need to try some of their succulent and savory Wagyu barbecue, those buttery flavor-loaded biscuits, and creative sweet treats. You will THANK ME later! #GetOakD
#4 407 BBQ
831 FM 407 Exit, Argyle, TX
407 is located in Argyle, Texas, just north of Fort Worth and west of Dallas. I like to tell everyone it’s really just north Fort Worth because every time I make a trip up there it’s like I never left Fort Worth. Pitmaster Bryan McLarty has created a Barbecue joint full of deliciousness and friendly team members, with plenty of outdoor patio space too. They are slinging breakfast, lunch, and dinner with one of the largest menus in the Texas barbecue business. They offer all the great Texas Craft BBQ like succulent brisket with great bark, flavor-loaded pulled smoked pork, smoked turkey breast, ribs, and some mean Texas-smoked meatloaf that is simply #StupidDelicious. I mean that meatloaf is just STUPID! The breakfast menu is also loaded with a variety of savory flavor-loaded items like house prepared biscuits and gravy, smoked brisket biscuit sandwiches, breakfast migas, house pastrami hash bowls, porko verde migas, and the big bad Texican burrito. I could list more of Bryan’s creative dishes, but you need to experience them for yourself. Don’t forget the smoked brisket burger -that thang is MONEY! Check their hours and head over to chow down at 407 BBQ. I can promise you this: you aren’t going to leave hungry! #407StupidDelicious
#5 Hutchin’s BBQ
9225 Preston Road, Frisco, Texas
301 N Tennessee St, McKinney, Texas (Remodeling)
The awesome Hutchin’s brothers and their hard-working barbecue team members are smoking up North Texas deliciousness. Everything they offer on the menu has been meaty, delicious perfection. I have a couple of favorites such as the flavorful and delicious brisket, served off the chopping block. It’s cut thick and has flavor-loaded bark that I consider to be perfect. My second favorite is their Texas Twinkies. Oh yeah! Give me about twenty of those and we are going to eat then take a nice nap! They also have some very creative sides and desserts for your sweet tooth. Everything they serve at Hutchin’s has bold delicious flavors and will make you have dreams of barbecue. You will have to stand in line, so just be prepared! #AwardWinningTwinkies
#6 Hurtado Barbecue
205 East Front Street, Arlington, TX
WOW! What a fantastic two years for Pitmaster Brandon Hurtado. Brandon came onto the Texas barbecue scene like a bull in a china closet. Slinging delicious, creative barbecue dishes, he’s become one of the largest influences in creating sausage flavors and taco dishes in the Texas barbecue business. He started with pop-ups and has moved quickly to a new brick-and-mortar location. Now they’re working on a craft cocktail and beer bar to open soon next to his barbecue store. They describe themselves as “Slow-smoked, central Texas-style barbecue with a Tex-Mex style twist, and prepared in Arlington Texas!” I would just say they’re “Tex-Mex Craft Deliciousness.” I can’t list all of the dishes Brandon and his team are slinging at Hurtado, but I can tell you my favorites. I like the brisket because it has a fantastic bark and is always cooked to perfection. It’s #BARKOLICIOUS baby! He has some unbelievable sausage creations such as Nacho Style Sausage, Mexican Boudin, and Jalapeño Cheddar. The Nacho flavor is based on an order of Tex-Mex nachos. I want you to imagine taking a delicious order of Texas nachos, pouring it into a blender, then stuffing it into sausage. It’s just R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S.! LOVE IT! They also created a new smoke meat Puffy Taco which I fell in love with. With every bite I took of the savory and meaty taco, juice would run down my chin. That DAM taco is dangerously delicious. If you have a taco addiction you better stay away from Hurtado Barbecue! You will enjoy your foodie experience when you visit Hurtado, just don’t blame me if you get addicted. #BBQTacoDreamLand
#7 Zavala’s Barbecue
421 W Main St, Grand Prairie, Texas
It’s been two years now since I met Joe and his team at their little BBQ joint in Grand Prairie. They’ve moved up my list again and as I stated on last year’s list, they truly have the BEST craft barbecue in Grand Prairie and some of the BEST in Texas. The restaurant is very family-friendly and has a cozy atmosphere. The Brisket is #flavorloaded and is sliced nice and thick. It has the perfect color bark, it’s savory with a hint of salt and a lot of deliciousness. I always feel right at home at Zavala’s – there’s just something about that small, cozy place that just feels right. You can order amazing barbecue, sides, sausage, turkey, beef ribs, tacos, and more. My favorite taco is the “Sloppy Juan” with a side of thick-cut, succulent brisket!! Head over and grab you a SLOPPY JUAN and try some of their flavorful house-prepared sauces too. Oh yea – #GetYouSomeZavalas
#8 Vaqueros Texas Barbecue
906 Jean St, Grapevine, TX
“Yee-Haw let’s smoke that Q baby!” That’s what I picture chef and pitmaster Trey Sanchez saying every time I see his name or his barbecue. He always has a lot of fun and really enjoys slinging tacos and barbecue to all his loyal fans and barbecue lovers. He has award-winning smoked meat Birria Tacos and brisket that has been featured on numerous national TV shows and social media. His Birria Tacos are so dam tasty they’re actually famous FAMOUSLY DELICIOUS. I want you to think about taking a grilled taco and dipping into taco gravy. That’s Birria Tacos! His brisket is flavor-loaded, bold, and he offers house-prepared sides that are always on point and loaded with deliciousness. He has some NANNER PUDDIN that is to die for. Nothing like SWEET PUDD’IN after Taco DIPP’IN! If you haven’t been over to HOP & STING brewery to chow down on some of Vaqueros Texas barbecue, you need to make that trip. #Famouslydelicious
#9 BBQ On The Brazos
9001 HWY 377, Cresson, Texas
Oh yes! Pitmaster John, Pitmaster John Jr., and of course Kathryn are smoking, chopping, and slinging the BEST Texas craft barbecue and sides in Cresson, Texas. They also serve up a mean breakfast, as well as the award-winning Smoked Gobbler Sandwich. The Smoked Turkey Sandwich is covered in melted, gooey cheese that was created for the sandwich gods! If you’re looking for some award-winning ribs sprinkled with pitmaster John’s magic, then they have you covered. Succulent, flavor-packed ribs that will leave you saying, “OMG I need to take some home with me!”. They also have my favorite jalapeño cheese and grits which is lip-smacking, mouth-watering delicious. This is one of the coziest little BBQ joints in Texas, serving some of the BEST ribs you can find. Just call them #RibsRUS
#10 Dayne’s Craft Barbecue
2735 W 5th St, Fort Worth, TX (West 7th area)
Rated Number #2 in Fort Worth and #10 in North Texas. Dayne moves from “Mr. Backyard Brisket Boy” to one of the best little barbecue joints in the city of Fort Worth and the great state of Texas baby! I laugh every time someone talks about the story of Dayne’s rise to brisket and barbecue fame. Dayne was trying to perfect his brisket, smoking so many briskets in his backyard on the weekends for… nobody. His then-girlfriend and now-wife Ashley laid down the law: Dayne, you’re smoking briskets for who, but we should be selling them and selling them now! The rest is history as they say.
They started selling from the house and folks would line up at their driveway to get some of Dayne’s meaty deliciousness. I’ve been watching this young man smoke and craft his way to the top of barbecue greatness in the last two years. Dayne and Ashley are also slinging creative and flavor-loaded sides and house-prepared desserts. They love tasty sausage and he’s become quite the smoked sausage flavor-creator too. He’s created fifteen different sausage flavors and more are coming. Some of the menu items I love are the Angus brisket sliced thick and juicy, bacon brisket (DAM it’s S.T.U.P.I.D.), pulled pork, and of course flaming-hot street corn, creamy Mac-n-cheese, and those big fat succulent beef ribs baby! Don’t forget the sweet desserts! Oh my!
They put a lot of effort into their sides and they will tell you they’re dedicated to providing the best overall barbecue experience for you, your family, and friends. I have to agree with them – every dish that comes from Dayne and Company is loaded with bold flavors and deliciousness. This year he ordered and got his new big BBQ Roll’n Trailer Kitchen and Dayne is blowing smoke and slinging Q to anyone who wants it. If you haven’t experienced Dayne’s deliciousness yet, you need to get over there and chow down! #DaynesMeatyDeliciousness
#11 Cattleack Barbecue
13628 Gamma Road, Farmers Branch, Texas
Pitmaster Todd David has been branded the best. After selling the disaster restoration company he’d owned for 30 years, he decided to turn his life-long BBQ hobby into a profession and founded Cattleack Barbecue, a North Dallas BBQ joint. I met Todd about five years ago and I’ve enjoyed his barbecue ever since. I have three favorite items that I absolutely love from Todd. The Big Beef Ribs (which look like dinosaur-sized ribs) are packed with flavor and caked with an amazing bark. Oh boy. They also serve Akaushi Pastrami Burnt Ends, and OMG these little bite-sized things will send your mouth to the flavor rodeo – they are amazing! I went back three times to get more, and even then I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to steal the whole pan of these delicious bites like a thief in the night; I even featured his burnt ends on a FOX special. He also offers whole hog Saturdays, where he prepares and cooks whole hogs for some PIGGY DELICIOUSNESS. If you’re looking for some incredible award-winning barbecue and sides, then I would consider Cattleack to have some of the BEST in TEXAS, and for sure in the USA. Worth the drive from anywhere to visit. Be prepared to stand in line at Cattleack. #DallasDeliciousness
#12 Lockhart Smokehouse
Arlington, Dallas, & Plano, Tx
The Lockhart team has been blowing smoke and slinging Central Style Texas Q for years and has some history behind them. They have three locations in North Texas: Arlington, Dallas, and Plano. Last year I ate barbecue at each location – I mean if you’re going to report on the best barbecue you have to eat it all, lol! They offer a wide range of smoked meats and sausages that are always wrapped up tight in brown butcher paper, like babies in a blanket. I love to see the meat juices soaking through the paper; it screams meaty deliciousness to me. Some of my favorite dishes are the pork chops because they offer different flavor profiles and are always thick, juicy, and loaded with bold flavors. Cajun rubbed chicken, succulent burnt ends, whiskey butter turkey, habanero Mac-N-Cheese, and that sweet peach cobbler is just S.T.U.P.I.D. Delicious! Their menu changes daily and it always impresses me. If you’re looking for some unique and delicious items, you need to make plans to head over to LOCKHART and chow down. Push that door open and scream, “TREY SENT ME TO PUT A WHOOP’IN ON SOME Q, BABY!” #whoopinOnQ
#13 Heim BBQ
Fort Worth and Dallas, Tx
Travis and Ema Heim have been creating barbecue magic for years. Travis invented and created Bacon Burnt Ends in 2015, which are savory and sweet little pork chunks of deliciousness. If you’ve never experienced these little magic chunks then you’re missing out on the finer things in life! His brisket is always #flavorloaded and is coated with the perfect Texas bark. Saddle up and head on over to the cozy Heim Barbecue for some incredibly flavorful Pork burnt ends and brisket! It doesn’t matter what you’re in the mood to eat: baked tater skins, corn dogs, brisket, sausage, or whatever you can dream up – including an award-winning brisket burger. They also have a second big TEXAS size barbecue location on the river in Fort Worth with a gigantic outdoor patio, and now in Dallas too. It’s like a CHOW DREAMLAND and you won’t leave hungry. #ChowDreamLand
#14 Pecan Lodge
2702 Main St, Dallas, Texas
If the windows are open, I can smell Pecan Lodge Smoke from at least two blocks away, just like Black’s. They have flavorful and tasty brisket and sausage, just like last year, but I want to talk about two particular dishes that I adore: the Hot Mess and the Pit Master Sandwiches. Allow me to demonstrate why by showing you the menu description:
The HOT MESS is prepared with a jumbo sea salt-crusted sweet potato, South Texas smoked barbacoa (shredded brisket with southwestern seasoning), chipotle cream, cheese, butter, and fresh chopped green onions.
The PITMASTER has smoked brisket, Smoked Pulled pork, Sausage, and is topped with slaw, house BBQ sauce, and fresh sliced jalapeños.
Make plans to visit the LODGE (but be prepared to wait in line, because it is that good). #PecanPitmasterDeliciousness
#15 Derek Allan’s Barbecue
1116 8th Ave, Fort Worth, TX
Tucked back on 8th Ave. in Fort Worth, Derek Allan is blowing smoke and slinging deliciousness. He offers some creative BBQ dishes and sausages with names like The Dirty Texan, Bless Your Gut, and his Texas-famous Brisket Biscuit. I think the biscuit Gods help him create this biscuit of meaty, savory perfection.
They started in 2015 from humble beginnings and have worked hard, pounding the pavement to make their barbecue dreams come true. He offers a good size menu with a variety of eats to choose from. He also slings Wagyu Beef and Wagyu beef burnt ends that are just insane. They are like eating meat butter that just melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. If you love Q then head over and see Derek and Crew. You better make sure you have some extra napkins for all that meaty deliciousness that’s going to be drip’in down yo chin! #DerekAllanPerfection
#16 The Slow Bone
2234 Irving Blvd, Dallas, Texas
There is just something about opening the door and walking into Slow Bone that makes you feel welcome and at home every time. They offer a variety of great barbecue and sandwiches with names like The Dough, The Pit, and The Smoked Chicken, but just like last year, I can’t get past the badass pork chops. OH, those Smoked Pork Chops…. My mouth is watering right now trying to write this article. It’s pretty hard to write with the slobber dripping on the keyboard. YOU will LOVE Slow Bone and everything they offer, including the little cozy outdoor seating. #MouthWateringBBQ
#17 The Patriotic Pig
3900 Rufe Snow Drive, North Richland Hills, Texas
The Patriotic Pig Started in 2016 as a catering business with a mission to give back to the veteran community. I met them in early 2020 when I took a ride over to chow down at their new restaurant located in N.R.H. They have a cozy little dining room that is perfect for chowing down and enjoying some Texas deliciousness. They will tell you without hesitation, “We offer nothing but authentic, premium Texas BBQ made from the freshest ingredients grown right here on our own free soil. We pride ourselves as true Americans whose mission is to humbly serve unforgettable BBQ while paying tribute to the greatest nation on the planet, The United States of America! ”
They offer a large variety of house-prepared Texas BBQ, eats, sides, and desserts. Everything I’ve tried has been on point and delicious. The brisket and pulled pork are succulent and just MONEY all day long, but the BACON BOMBS have that special something that will grab your taste buds and have you screaming for more. They are a little savory, porky, cheesy, and with a hint of salt and loads of deliciousness. In fact, they taste like MORE because MORE is all you’re going to want! When you head over you better PACK those BAGS because you’re going on a trip straight to deliciousville. #PatrioticDelicioiusville
#18 Meat U Anywhere BBQ & Catering
919 W Northwest Hwy, Grapevine, TX
The now world-famous Meat U Anywhere Pitmaster Andy Sedino has been slinging Q for years. He will tell you that growing up, barbecue was a staple in their home with his nine siblings. I met Andy years ago at a food festival and have enjoyed his barbecue ever since then. I got the pleasure of hosting Andy this year on my LIVE show and enjoyed our conversations on Q deliciousness. They have locations in Grapevine and Trophy Club, Texas, where you can enjoy a wide range of Texas Craft Q, sides, and Tacos. They offer dishes like Texas craft brisket, dino beef ribs, ribs, smoked turkey, and of course that cheesy, flavor-loaded jalapeno Mac-N-Cheese. That Mac-N-Cheese is insane! I take no responsibility for the naughty, cheesy dreams you’re going to have afterward. The beef ribs are just #STUPID with that fantastic Meat U Anywhere bark and their brisket is always succulent, meaty perfection. Andy and his culinary team are sure to please! Make plans to chow down and tell Andy I said HELLO! #InsaneMacNCheese
#19 Smoked Sessions Barbecue
307 West Hwy 66, Royse City, Texas
They’ve been busy slinging Q while building a new restaurant in Royce City this year. As I’ve stated in previous years, there’s not much ol’ Chad Sessions won’t smoke. They specialize in central Texas-style succulent barbecue and offer a variety of eats. Smoked brisket, pork ribs, turkey, pulled pork, and those incredibly flavorful garlic parmesan ribs. Yea, I said it and I’ll say it again: GARLIC P.A.R.M.E.S.A.N. RIBS. Every time I think about those ribs my mouth starts salivating and I go into Full Tilt Barbecue Boogie! Absolute PERFECTION! Sessions’ deliciousness is all you will want after visiting just one time. Don’t forget some of that spicy garlic and pepper jack sausage! You will find them at many events slinging award-winning BBQ with a smile. They are opening a new beautiful Sessions restaurant in April so get to the new Sessions in downtown Royce City for some greatness. #SessionsGreatness

Oh my, that key lime pie is just S.T.U.P.I.D! If you’re looking for a real barbecue destination, don’t hesitate to head to TEN50. Be sure and tell’em you want some of them BIG PHAT RIBS! #tenfiftymeatydeliciousness
#21 Ferris Wheelers Backyard and BBQ
1950 Market Center Blvd, Dallas, Texas
I’ve enjoyed Ferris’s for two years in a row now, so a third year is on track. Twice in 2020, I chowed down (and loved) some of their fantastic savory, meaty, and cheesy tacos. Do you like barbecue, fried okra, hot links, tacos, waffle fries, brisket queso, and Ferris wheels? Well, do I have a spot for you in Dallas where you can get some amazing barbecue, lip-sucking fried okra, snappy hot links, and other amazing sides. They have a big open outdoor area with vibrant colors, music, and plenty of fun. You can even ride a Ferris wheel if you choose!
I love the fun, upbeat atmosphere of this place – it’s full of fun, delicious eats and the LIL RED WHEELER COCKTAIL. Head over, chow down, and be sure to ask them to turn the Ferris wheel on high for you! Where else can you get craft eats, cocktails, and fun with a BIG Ferris wheel? #BarbecueAndFerrisWheels
#22 Smiley’s Craft Barbecue
206 North Oak St, Roanoke, TX
Oh yeah, those Smiley’s boys are always up to something! They are new to the barbecue scene in North Texas, but they aren’t behind. #24 Tender Smokehouse
224 W Pecan St, Celina, Texas
Located in the quaint, colorful town of Celina, Texas, just north of DFW, they have a cozy little joint on the square. When I visited the first time there was a line out the door, but it was so worth the wait. I really enjoyed the brisket, but I was crazy about their pulled pork. I’m not sure what they do to achieve that flavor profile, but I had dreams about it. No kidding. Maybe they pray over it, talk to it, bless it, I’m not sure… but the pulled pork is pure heavenly Texas bliss. The ribs were succulent and delicious too! They also offer a Frito Pie that is pure savory, cheesy, meaty, deliciousness. The pulled pork and Frito pie are worth the drive from any were – and as a bonus, you can spend some time in the quaint little town of Celina right next to Frisco. Simply #PulledPorkHeaven
#25 Smoke-A-Holics
1417 Evan’s Ave, Fort Worth, Texas
Smoke-A-Holics and their pitmaster Derek Walker are serious about their Q baby! They have a truly cozy little Texas barbecue joint that is about as authentic as you’re going to find in Texas. It has plenty of charm and it feels like a backyard barbecue with family. They’re creating and smoking up a storm of meaty deliciousness. On my first visit to chow down, I went past the little building, but I could smell the smoke. I just followed my nose until I saw all the cars and trucks; they were stacked in his lot like cardboard in a warehouse, waiting on some of Derek’s famous Q.
They have plenty of delicious meats and sides but I’m going to highlight the serious favorites. Let’s talk succulent ribs, flavor-loaded brisket, and those baby rib tips. YEAH, BUDDY! I love those little rib tip nuggets of joy – they are a flavor rodeo in my mouth! I’m just eating them and screaming, “May I have another PLEASE?!” He also offers these crazy TEXAS-SIZE SMOKED Turkey Legs smothered in tasty fixings. Derek will tell you, “We aren’t playing with these turkey legs! They are served phat and smothered with all kinds of goodies.” They have names like The Big Grit, Dirty South, The Ragin Cajun, and The Plain Jane. They pile the garnishes like Garlic Cheddar Grits, Cajun Shrimp, Derek’s signature Cajun sausage and cheese all around the turkey legs, and BOOM! Turkey Leg Greatness! I would suggest if you’re a real barbecue and foodie lover, go see Big Derek and his culinary team and chow down. #DerekAintPlaying

East Texas Region
#1 Slaughter’s BBQ Oasis
1000 Gilmer Street, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482
In Sulphur Springs, TX, just two hours east of Dallas, sits one of the BEST little barbecue joints. When you arrive and are driving down Gilmer Street, you probably won’t see the Oasis Smoke Wagon at first, but just follow your nose and you will locate them right in front of Fix & Feed. They are located in the same parking lot.
I met David Slaughter two years ago and I’ve been watching his culinary team grow and create some stupid delicious dishes ever since my first visit. If you ask David, he will tell you how thankful he is for his customers and team members. They offer fresh, delicious, and creative barbecue and it’s his sole mission to please meat lovers. They have gotten more and more creative and offer some delicious sausage options and barbecue platters with succulent brisket that has a perfect bark and flavor. They also have pulled pork, chicken, and their world-famous T-Flo’s and Smoked Jalapeño popper chicken that is ridiculously delicious. I even featured these poppers of perfection on my ABC special. #2 Stanley’s Pit Barbecue
525 S Beckham Ave, Tyler, TX
I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting Stanley’s, team but I’m loving that Q! Located in the quaint little town of Tyler, Texas, Stanley’s has been smoking and slinging Q for over sixty years. They remodeled just last year, adding a bunch of square footage indoors, and renovated the covered patio as well, which is now partially covered too. They were awarded BEST LIVE MUSIC venue in Tyler and they also offer a wide variety of bourbons. They’ve been honored by Texas Monthly four times, but that isn’t what makes them truly happy; they enjoy pleasing and satisfying their barbecue-loving customers and that’s what they do every day.
I’ve chowed down on their Q on two occasions and it has been meaty, savory, flavorful, and delicious. They offer an extensive menu, and everything is prepared fresh in-house. They have sandwiches with some fantastic names like The Mother Clucker, The Cadillac Clucker with candied bacon, The Mother in Law, The Brother In Law, and the Pork Brother In Law. They also have a Giant Stuffed Bake Tater and some of the Best RIBS in East Texas. It doesn’t matter what you choose, or how you get there, just get over to Stanley’s and chow down. You will love the experience and if you’re lucky you might meet the next big music star! #StanleyOldSchoolQ
#3 Grant’s Barbecue
1700 TX-37, Clarksville, Texas
Just a short two hours southeast of Dallas, Grant’s Barbecue sits on the roadside, and I mean the side of the road. It looks like an old train car, but it’s so much more. I’ve always been a big proponent of roadside dining – I think it makes the food taste better, being outdoors with the birds chirping, cars, and trucks just passing by. It truly makes it an official and authentic roadside diner.
I always eat the ribs, brisket, cowboy beans, sausages, and cheesy potatoes. Everything was fresh, and the aroma from the outdoor smoker just made everything so much more delicious. The brisket was cooked to perfection, the ribs fell off the bone, and the sausage was so good I was eating it with my fingers. My hands smelled like smoked meats and sauce when I got back into my truck. This place is pure awesomeness, with plenty of bold flavors that translate to deliciousness on the side of the road. #RoadSideBBQDreams

#1 Phat Tabb’s Barbecue
1110 South Central Avenue, Idabel, OK
There’s no need for me to list a number two in Oklahoma because they won’t even come close to Phat Tabb’s NEW Joint in Idabel. I’ve eaten barbecue all over the state and no other location even ranks close to Chef Tabb Singleton. The first time I heard about Phat Tabb’s I received a text from a friend in East Texas. The text simply said, “Trey, have you eaten at Phat Tabb’s or heard of him? ” The answer was NO and NO to both! The following week I drove over 388 miles just to see what Phat Tabb was slinging in Idabel, Oklahoma.
I did my research and was surprised by his lengthy culinary background and his TV show participation. Chef Tabb worked with celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse in New Orleans before starting his own restaurant. He’s a Chopped Champion (Food Network), and a Deep-Fried Master (Destination America). It was shocking, but once I learned that he was from the area, I understood – he had come home to create some barbecue perfection. That’s exactly what he did, and he keeps creating and slinging deliciousness. He is smoking up a storm with Texas-style brisket, succulent pulled pork, flavor-loaded ribs, and house-prepared sausages. He has a new Drunken Taco Sausage that was RIDICULOUS, and a Phat Pastrami sandwich that’s a four-hander. Oh, and let’s not forget the fresh Phat Cuban sandwich and Godzilla size burritos. I could continue on this path of delicious descriptions, but I’m slobbering on my keyboard again, and replacing them is getting expensive. Just make plans to chow down at Phat Tabb’s. I don’t care where you’re coming from or where you’re going. Reroute to Tabb’s. #PhatTabbsDeliciousness

#1 Guess Family Barbecue
2803 Franklin Ave, Waco, TX
Guess Family Barbecue is located in Waco, Texas in the south region, and their team has been busy the last two years blowing smoke. Their building is beautiful and new by barbecue standards; it’s large, colorful, has plenty of room for dining, and is complete with a cocktail bar too.
The staff is extremely nice and very helpful when you’re trying to decide on what to eat, which is great because their menu big and full of many delicious items for breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner. We tried some brunch items first, including the savory and meaty Brisket Hash along with those house-prepared buttery biscuits and creamy gravy. We also tried various fresh-smoked meats like the brisket, sausage, and turkey which were savory, succulent, and delicious. The sausage is prepared in-house as well, and we had the Garlic Sausage – YUMMY! The most creative item we tried was the Deviled Eggs w/ Brisket Jam. These little jewels were #StupidDelicious – a unique flavor profile that I’ve had naughty BBQ food dreams about since I left.
If you’re in Waco, passing through, or live in the area, check out Guess and chow down. They’re slinging deliciousness all day every day! #WacoGuessFamilyGreatness
#2 Helberg Barbecue
8532 Hwy 6, Woodway, TX 76712
Located north of Waco, but still in what I call the south region is Helberg Barbecue. It’s easy to locate but hard to leave. We pulled up and saw the smoke billowing from the smokers, and I could smell the deliciousness lofting in the air. As it does most of the time, my mouth started salivating and I was going into full tilt barbecue boogie!
When we walked in we noticed the big menu board – it was displaying a large variety of smoked meats and eats. We ordered the brisket, which of course had the perfect bark was flavorful and juicy. But for me, the star of the show was that fresh smoked and fried chicken halves. WOW! I have to say that I’ve never tried such culinary magic as the Helberg Smoked Chicken Halves. It is truly a kaleidoscope of flavors with every bite. Fresh chicken is brined, smoked then fried to perfection! Helberg is doing it right- slinging smoked meats that are prepared with passion and perfection. #HelbergChickenPerfection
#3 Po Campo BBQ
610 N 2nd St, Hico, TX 76457
Located in Hico, Texas southwest of Fort Worth, this cozy little barbecue joint has plenty of charm and character. If you follow me, then you might know I’m in love with cozy eateries slinging fresh deliciousness.
We parked in the back and I noticed the smokers blowing, so I had to go investigate the meaty situation. Someone poked their head out with a big smile and said, “Hello! Come on inside!” We slung that door open like it was a wild west saloon because we were ready to go caveman on some smoked Q.
They offer a variety of meat like most Q joints, but I want to focus on the ribs. Oh, those ribs! We ordered both the spicy and regular styles. Talk about succulent and flavorful! I had juice running down both sides of my mouth and literally dripping off my chin with a splat on the table. Now, most would think this was a problem, but when ribs are so good you can’t stop eating them the DRIP is the best! If you love #Flavorloaded ribs of deliciousness, head over to Po Campo BBQ and chow down, but watch out for the DRIPPY DRIP! #PoCampoDrippyDrip
Austin Region
#1 Terry Black’s Barbecue
1003 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX
Different city, different road, different staff, same dam delicious barbecue. Austin is where my love for Black’s started, and they’re an Austin staple now.
I do love the cozy building on Barton Springs Road, tucked back in front of the residential neighborhood. I love how cozy the building feels as you walk inside where they believe brisket is king. You can smell the barbecue walking through the parking lot, and if you look at those stacks in the front pit room, they’re always blowing smoke – even if you’re just driving by you can see SMOKE!
Walking through the line, the staff is always nice and helpful. It’s hard to pick because there is so much deliciousness to choose from. If you ask me I’ll tell you to grab one of the BIG PHAT BEEF RIBS! You can choose some succulent brisket, juicy #flavorloaded ribs, and of course some of Black’s signature sausage. You must make room for some taste bud-tingling peach cobbler and sweet and savory, mind-blowing banana pudding. If you haven’t eaten at Black’s, I truly feel sorry for you because everyone should experience it at least once. Go ahead and take a ride over to Black’s, open that door and tell them Trey wrote you a prescription for some Austin barbecue deliciousness. #PrescriptionForAustinDeliciousness
#2 Leroy and Lewis
121 Pickle Rd, Austin, TX
The first time I was offered some Leroy and Lewis barbecue I could smell it coming. When you can smell barbecue wafting in the air with the wind blowing in a different direction, your barbecue senses go on full alert. They placed a big tray on the table in front of me and I started CHOWING down and discovered two important factors.
1. The taste was even better than the alluring barbecue aroma
2. That Leroy and Lewis smoke meats were possibly some of the best I’ve ever tasted on my BBQ and foodie adventures.
I went back last year during Covid, working on my list for 2020, and it was even better than the previous three times. I’m not sure if they realize this, because I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting them. Every time I walk into the food park and make my way to the food van, they are extremely busy, which is a good sign. They offer a variety of flavor-loaded smoked meats, sides, sausages, and even have TEXAS SIZE sausage dogs. The brisket was perfection and bark-o-licious, the ribs ridiculous, and those cauliflower burnt ends were #stupiddelicious. They are savory, flavorful bites of deliciousness that you can’t forget. You better pack yo bags when you head over to Leroy and Lewis because you’re headed for a trip straight to #deliciousville. #LeroyLewisAwesomeness
#3 Valentina’s Tex Mex Barbecue
11500 Manchaca Rd, Austin, TX
I had no idea what to expect the first time I pulled into the parking lot of Valentina’s. All I knew was my son Daulton told me I had to try it. Because he’s my son and was so passionate about the food, I figured I would give it a try because I believe in trying deliciousness firsthand.
We wheeled into the parking lot and I saw the meat wagon on the right with a big line. Anytime you see folks in line waiting for food it sets a certain precedent in your mind that it must be good. Folks don’t generally stand in line to get a whoopin’, or let their wallet suffer for something that is bad. As I ordered they looked at me funny because of all the food I ordered. “Are you eating all this?” Yes I am! WOW! They had no idea who I was or what I was doing – I just wanted to try some of that Q I was smelling while I waited.
They offer breakfast, lunch, day snacks, and dinner (if they don’t run out!). I ordered smoked brisket which was juicy and flavorful, with great bark, chips and queso, smoked pulled pork, and smoked sausage. Then I kept ordering brisket Mexican taco, red tater salad, and the Money Smoked Burger. Got Dam that was #BurgerDeliciousness 101 right there!
My visit was nothing but perfect – every dish was served HF&D #HotFreshandDelicious. Get over to Valentina’s, I dare you to take 4 or 5 peeps and order pounds of food like it’s all yours. Tell’em to charge that deliciousness to Trey’s tab (LOL! Not Really! Don’t try that just go Chow Down!). #AwardWinningQ
#4 Interstellar Barbecue
12233 Ranch Road 620 Austin, TX
When we were driving to Interstellar barbecue from downtown Austin I wasn’t sure about the direction, but we hit Ranch Road and there it was – right in a strip center. I could see the smoke wagon parked in the parking lot under the big tree. I love trees, barbecue, and the outdoors so we had a trifecta before we officially pulled up. This visit was during Covid19, so we ordered TOGO and I counted nine different cars waiting on some Q.
They offer small batch craft Texas-style barbecue and house-prepared sides. We ordered juicy brisket, flavor-loaded pork, succulent chicken, and peach burnt ends. Yea, I said it! Peach Tea Glazed Pork Belly ENDS! WOW! I was blown away with these little nuggets of peachy, savory, sweet, and porky perfection. I love peaches AND pork AND deliciousness, so this was a fantastic flavor combination. I like to eat with my hands, and boy my fingers were sticky. I was sucking the deliciousness off my fingertips, making a sucking noise while saying, “Dam, just dam these are insane Jana!” She looked at me and noticed I had peach glaze pork juice on my lips, chin, and cheeks like a school kid in the lunchroom! I loved the flavor so much I was trying to lick my lips and cheeks with my tongue. Jana said, “TREY use a napkin! You sound like a caveman over there. Calm down!” To which I replied, “Jana you haven’t tasted these dam things yet. How dare you tell me to use a napkin and waste this juicy deliciousness!” Well my friends, what I’m telling you is this: those were the best GLAZED Pork BELLY I had all year! Call me Ol’ Sticky Fingers, I don’t care – just get to Interstellar and enjoy some meaty deliciousness! #GlazedPorkBellyPerfection
Houston Region
#1 Pinkerton’s Barbecue
1504 Airline Dr, Houston, TX
Anytime I see the word Pinkerton, I immediately think of Allan Pinkerton, who started the world-famous Pinkerton Detective Agency in 1850. You didn’t want the Pinkerton Boys after you – all they chased were bad hombres. When they caught you, they weren’t going to ask many questions. It was whoop’in time! That being said, when I saw Pinkerton’s Barbecue years ago I thought they better be putting a whooping on some Q with a name like Pinkerton’s!
Listen up, and listen close. They are slinging the BEST barbecue in Houston if you ask me. When we walked in there was a sign on the door that read: “We like our barbecue hot and our joint cold! Please keep the door closed! The line moves fast!” I just laughed and thought, “Let’s eat!”.
I walked in and waited, reviewing the menu of offerings and my mouth started watering. We ordered the Dry Rub Pork Ribs, Prime Brisket, Jambalaya Smoked Duck and Sausage Rice, Cheesy Mac-N-Cheese, South Texas Beans, and some Jalapeno Cheese rice. We might have had a few other sides too, lol! The Ribs and Brisket were simply #StupidDelicious. The ribs were so succulent that the meat just fell off the bone. The brisket was loaded with meaty flavor deliciousness. I couldn’t stop eating it! And those sides, WOW! The Jalapeno Cheese Rice was moist, cheesy, and just R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S! The Mac-N-Cheese was cheesy, cheesy, and did I say cheesy? I thought we were in Cheese-Ville. it was so good it should be illegal. Our trip to PINKERTON’S was nothing but PERFECTION. The service was incredible the atmosphere was Texas fantastic. Get over there, but shut that door because you don’t want the Pinkerton’s after you! #pinkertonsdeliciousness
#2 Roegels Barbecue Company
2223 S Voss Rd, Houston, TX
Let’s talk barbecue, brisket, pork ribs, pastrami, slow-cooked pulled pork, smoked pork, pastrami, beef ribs, smoked chicken, oh and did I mention pastrami? When you pull up to a red building in Houston you better be ready to throw down on some meaty perfection. Oh, and pastrami. Are you seeing a pattern here? That Roegels pastrami is world-famous. If you haven’t had any… well bless your little heart! I had their smoked meats four years ago for the first time at a festival. I’ve eaten it four or five times since then and I’m in love with TEAM ROEGEL and everything they’re slinging, but that pastrami is THE MONEY HONEY – always on point. I’m serious, it will make a BULLDOG break his chain! They don’t, and won’t, serve anything that’s not fresh, savory, and delicious! Unless of course you eat get some of their famous Bourbon Banana Pudd’in. Yea that’s right, it’s a little sweet, savory, and a truckload of deliciousness. That BOURBON BANANA PUDD’IN makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I don’t know what else I can say to you except head over to the red building and chow down! Be sure and take some TOGO for later. #RoegelsPastramiPerfection
#3 Gatlin’s Barbecue
3510 Ella Blvd Bldg C Ste A, Houston, TX
When you pull up you will see the beautiful rock-like brick on the end of the building where Gattlin’s is located. When you walk inside you’ll see the worn painted floors and wood on the walls. They also have cut-stacked wood in holes, which has a lot of character and makes for a cozy barbecue joint. I love the warm feeling in Gatlin’s; it feels like home to me.
The service is always first class and all big Texas smiles. Before I ate there I was told they were famous for their southern craft barbecue in Houston. They have a variety of offerings prepared fresh daily like brisket, pull pork, turkey, whole chicken, spare ribs, baby back ribs, sandwiches, plates, by the pound meats and so much more. Dam I’m getting hungry just reading my notes.
They also offer ten different sides, including candied yams (YUMMMMY!) and some amazing baked taters that are lol, lol, lol, loaded with goodies. I had their big sandwich THE KITCHEN SINK and it was #stupiddelicious. The ribs I tried were falling off the bone #ridicouslydelicious I can promise you this: you will have trouble choosing from the menu because there are so many great choices. Do me a favor and try that KITCHEN SINK, but you better have some napkins and a big mouth, lol! #FamilyBBQJoint

#1 Oak’D Barbecue
5500 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX
#GetOakD
#2 407 BBQ
#3 Terry Black’s Barbecue
3025 Main Street, Deep Ellum, Dallas TX
New to the Dallas Barbecue scene but not new to Texas. The Black Family has been smoking and slinging Q in Texas since 1938. Their roots run deep in the heart of Texas. They decided to open a NEW Black’s in Deep Ellum and in November 2019 a new legendary BBQ joint was born in Dallas. They constructed a brand new restaurant that is Texas-size, beautiful, and has a vibrant atmosphere. It has an awesome outdoor patio that is two stories, and they have parking which is a big plus in Dallas. When you enter the restaurant, you’re greeted by five Texas-size offset smokers that are black, beautiful, and always have smoke blowing through the stacks. That delicious Texas barbecue aroma rolls through the restaurant and Deep Ellum like an old locomotive rolling into the train station. You can actually smell it as you drive or walk down the roads in Deep Ellum nearing the restaurant. As I approach the restaurant my mouth starts watering and I engage in F.T.B.B. I learned many moons ago there is something to be said about rolling smokers that permeate smells of deliciousness. Oh, and those 1.5-pound slow-smoked beef ribs of perfection – you just can’t go wrong at Terry Black’s.
If you haven’t been, you need to make that trip for some award-winning meaty deliciousness TODAY! They also have a full cocktail bar which makes the trip to Terry’s even better. #TerryBlacksBeefRibPerfection
#4 Heim Barbecue
Fort Worth, and Dallas, Tx
Travis and Ema Heim have been creating barbecue magic for years. Travis invented and created Bacon Burnt Ends in 2015, which are savory and sweet little pork chunks of deliciousness. If you’ve never experienced these little magic chunks then you’re missing out on the finer things in life! His brisket is always #flavorloaded and is coated with the perfect Texas bark. Saddle up and head on over to the cozy Heim Barbecue for some incredibly flavorful burnt ends and brisket!
#5 Pecan Lodge
#PitmasterDeliciousness
#6 TEN50 BBQ
1050 Central Express Way, Dallas, TX
If you want to see a big Texas Barbecue operation with a fantastic patio then Ten50 is where it’s at! They specialize in central Texas-style barbecue only using Prime USDA BEEF. All they need is salt, pepper, smoke, and time – after all, that’s all you need for true Texas barbecue, and that’s all you’ll find in their kitchen. They are serious about delicious, authentic central Texas-style barbecue, freshly prepared sides, and savory and sweet desserts. The restaurant is big and beautiful, with plenty of room. They have a vibrant atmosphere and a fantastic bar area, slinging craft beers and cocktails too. I’ve eaten a variety of Q from the menu and it’s all savory, succulent, and delicious. My favorite items would be the prime brisket, St. Louis pork ribs, and those #flavorloaded TORPEDOES prepared with brisket or chicken. You can’t forget their house-made desserts! Oh my, that key lime pie is just S.T.U.P.I.D! If you’re looking for a real barbecue destination, don’t hesitate to head to TEN50. Be sure and tell’em you want some of them BIG PHAT RIBS! #tenfiftymeatydeliciousness
#7 Dayne’s Craft Barbecue
His tacos are so dam tasty they’re actually famous #FAMOUSLYDELICIOUS. His brisket is flavor-loaded, bold, and he offers house-prepared sides that are always on point and loaded with deliciousness. He has some NANNER PUDDIN that is to die for. If you haven’t been over to HOP & STING brewery to chow down on some of Vaqueros Texas barbecue, you need to make that trip.
#9 Ferris Wheelers Backyard Barbecue
