Can you believe this? I can’t, not at all!

For 125 years Hershey’s has been serving America with delicious chocolate treats. In this ever changing society we reside in they are leaving the Hershey’s comfort zone of old and entering a new EMOJI ZONE. All my life I’ve loved Hershey’s chocolate bars I can’t believe their leaving the comforting stability of a classic milk-chocolate bar for a new emoji design? In this ever changing world I’m not shocked Hershey’s is introducing a new design by adding emojis, the chocolate company’s new bar does have an edgy version but, I’m sure it will be extremely popular I’ll let you deciede.

Trey’s Chow Down got invited to the roll out of the new PEI WEI Benton Boxes. I had time to visit with Chef J about Pei Wei’s new Bento Boxes and the new Clean-Label Initiative, The Wei Forward™ program. I was thrilled to hear about the program, and that Pei Wei has created some incredible new Benton Boxes packed with big bold flavors and freshness. I really enjoyed the NEW BENTO BOXES they where really delicious. I also loved the new Cauliflower Rice option which is now on the menu and it may be substituted in the Bento Boxes for rice. There are so many NEW options and everything is prepared fresh to order at each Pei Wei location.

Please read about the Bento Boxes and the Clean-Label Initiative, The Wei Forward™ program.

Drink With Trey and Trey’s Chow Down had an awesome time this year at the Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival in Tyler Texas.

Trey is always searching for the best food, drink, fun, and entertainment in TEXAS. He found plenty of awesome TEXAS CRAFT BBQ and creative sides in Tyler last Saturday. The pit masters worked hard and the artist where slinging great tunes all day.

Trey met folks from all over Texas and chowed down on some GREAT Texas CRAFT BBQ! Pit masters came from West, East, South, and Central Texas to throw down and create some amazing Craft BBQ and sides.

The Red Dirt Festival creators had this to say: “Now having celebrated its fifth anniversary, the Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival has proven to be one of the most premier and unique music and food experiences in Texas. The festival takes place on the brick streets of the downtown square in Tyler every May, featuring more than 20 of the most celebrated barbecue restaurants in Texas. Music happens for nearly 12 hours on two stages, with the main stage highlighting the biggest names in Texas and Red Dirt Music.

Barbecue joints from as close as Tyler and as far as Amarillo converge on the Rose City to showcase their smoked meats to thousands of barbecue enthusiasts, while thousands more pour onto the brick streets for the concert.
Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival celebrates its sixth anniversary on Saturday, May 4, 2019 back on the brick streets of Downtown Tyler. Randy Rogers Band will headline this year’s festival, joined by Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, American Aquarium and Mike and the Moonpies. The festival sold out for the sixth year in a row when tickets went on sale February 1, selling out in a record 181 minutes.
Trey found lots of delicious Texas BBQ, sides, and treats. All the BBQ was amazing but Trey discovered some clear winners that had some creative and flavorful Texas BBQ that everyone should try. “Click on highlighted names” for more about each restaurant or BBQ Stop.

The Wikipedia English definition of Barbecue:  Barbecue (or barbeque) is a cooking method, a style of food, a name for a meal, and a call for a gathering at which this type of food is cooked and served.

The average definition for BBQ doesn’t describe TEXAS CRAFT BBQ, so I enhanced my definition just a little over two years ago.

I started using the term “Craft BBQ” a few years ago because it signifies a special kind of barbecue for me. A Craft BBQ Pitmaster takes extra care when hand selecting only the best meats. rubs, spices, and prepares their BBQ with love and passion. In most cases they prepare their own rubs and custom spices. Some “Craft BBQ” Pitmasters only use salt and pepper for a rub because they believe using anything else is sac-religious.  They possess so much passion about their BBQ! They make sure every element is executed to perfection before the customer receives it and takes their first bite.
